Discount code issues

"This discount code isn't valid"

Most common causes:

• Code is mistyped (case-insensitive but spaces matter — trim them)
• Code is expired
• Code has minimum-order or item-restrictions not met
• Customer's cart doesn't include eligible items

The error is identical for all four cases (Shopify doesn't reveal why). For high-value codes, manually check the rule in Shopify admin.

Code applied but discount badge missing

If you removed an item and the discount tag disappeared in the drawer, check:

• Cart total now below the code's minimum threshold (Shopify auto-removes it)
• Eligible items are no longer in the cart

If neither, the cart drawer shows discounts via cart.cart_level_discount_applications — this is recomputed after each item update. If the badge still doesn't show, hard-refresh once.

Multiple codes

Shopify allows only one manual code per cart. Applying a second code replaces the first. Automatic discounts (Shopify admin → Discounts → Automatic) layer on top of any manual code.

Code field disabled

Check Theme settings → Cart → Show discount code field. If unchecked, the field is hidden globally — customers must apply codes at checkout.
