Mobile thumbnails
Optional thumbnail strip below the main image on mobile.
Updated 2026-05-09
By default, the mobile gallery shows arrows + dots only — thumbnail strips are hidden to maximise vertical space. Toggle them back on if your products benefit from a thumbnail row.
Setting
Customize → Product → Show thumbnails on mobile (checkbox, default off).
Behavior
When enabled:
- Slider gallery → thumbnails render as a horizontal scrollable strip below the main image
- Grid layouts → a separate horizontal thumbnail strip appears below the main carousel
- Tap a thumbnail → switches to that image (and scrolls the strip if needed so the active thumb stays visible)
- Native horizontal scroll on the strip — drag with finger
When to enable
- 8+ images per product (dots become unreadable on phones)
- Customer needs to compare multiple angles at-a-glance
When to keep off
- 4 or fewer images — dots are fine
- Tall vertical lookbook shots — strip eats vertical space
Tips
- Combined with arrow nav (also auto-scrolls active thumbnail into view), the experience matches modern mobile commerce flagships.
